22807 Weekend Activities||10/28-10/30

My fellow Dukes, the best time of the year is upon us! I believe with our previous preparation including pumpkin patches, apple picking, haunted tours and the like – we are now ready to get even spookier!

I believe this to be a JMU student favorite as I have heard of it plenty but cannot bring myself to participate in this spooky adventure myself. If you are new to the area and love being scared out of your mind, I highly suggest checking out this super spooky, super well put together annual event!

6340 Oak Shade Rd,

Harrisonburg, VA 22801 (15 minutes from JMU’s campus)

(540) 638-0061

Admission: $13/person/attraction OR $18/person/both attractions OR $28 fast pass (no wait)/person/both attractions OR You can purchase the $18 combo ticket and receive $3 dollars off with your JAC card!

*Cash Only – ATM on site / No refunds*

This fan favorite is located outdoors and features two exciting and creepy events: Fear Forest and Fear Crops. Fear Forest is a hair-raising stroll through your worst nightmares “where only the trees can hear you scream”! Fear Crops gives you a chance to get back at the creeps who scared you in the first attraction. In this second attraction you will participate in an interactive haunted hay ride where you’ll be given the opportunity to shoot at the monsters surrounding you. Visit http://www.fearforest.net/index.shtml for more information on rules, regulations and hours of operation.

And let’s not forget, it isn’t just Halloweekend – it’s also Homecoming Weekend!

Our homecoming football game will be on Saturday, October 29, at 3:30 p.m. at Bridgeforth Stadium, so don’t forget to come out and support your fellow Dukes!

A couple things to keep in mind while you’re out having an amazing JMU Halloweekend:

1. Use the buddy system – There’s safety in numbers, my friends!

If you go in together, come out together. Try to look out for each other to make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable night!

2. Stay alert – The more of you there are, the better you’ll all be at staying aware of your surroundings. You can never be too careful!

3. Take care of yourself! – Make sure to eat and hydrate properly before going out, and listen to your body. For those choosing to drink, know your limits and don't accept free drinks from anyone.

4. Make sure your phone is charged and bring a portable charger out with you if possible – You just never know when you might need it. Again, better safe than sorry.

Halloween weekend is an enjoyable time and a good excuse to unwind after midterms. Just keep in mind that everyone may not be as friendly as you are.

And with that I wish you all a safe weekend full of candy, fun and more!
